Health and Safety Policy
Purpose and scope: This health and safety policy sets out the overarching approach to workplace safety and wellbeing across all operations and activities. The policy establishes expectations, outlines responsibilities and defines the core principles that govern risk management, safe systems of work and continuous improvement. It applies to all staff, contractors, visitors and anyone affected by our activities and is intended as a statement of commitment to a robust health & safety policy framework rather than a replacement for procedural documentation.
Policy objectives
Our objectives are to prevent injury, protect health, reduce harm and maintain a safe environment. We commit to identifying and controlling hazards, integrating safety into decision-making and promoting a positive safety culture. The workplace safety policy emphasizes proactive risk reduction, compliance with applicable standards and the allocation of sufficient resources to maintain safe operations. This policy recognizes the need for consultation, participation and clear communication across all levels of the organisation.
To achieve these aims we define responsibilities clearly. Management will provide leadership and oversight, ensure that suitable safe systems are designed and implemented, and make sure adequate training, equipment and supervision are available. Supervisors and team leaders must implement procedures, monitor performance and support safe behaviours. Employees and contractors are expected to cooperate, follow instructions and report hazards or incidents promptly. Key duties include:
- Performing work in accordance with established health and safety procedures and safe systems of work;
- Participating in risk assessments and safety briefings;
- Using provided personal protective equipment and following control measures;
- Reporting hazards, near misses and incidents without delay;
- Supporting investigations and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Risk management is central to this occupational health and safety policy. We commit to identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing controls based on the hierarchy of control: eliminate, substitute, engineer, administrate and use personal protective equipment. Controls will be proportionate to the level of risk and will be routinely reviewed. Routine inspections, job hazard analyses and safety reviews will be used to measure effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

Training, competence and contractor management
All personnel will receive appropriate induction, training and ongoing competency checks relevant to their role. Training includes safe work practices, emergency procedures, manual handling, use of machinery and the correct application of protective equipment. Contractors and suppliers will be required to demonstrate their ability to meet our H&S policy expectations before commencing work and must adhere to our control measures while on site.Incident reporting and investigation processes are in place to learn from events and improve systems. All incidents, near misses and health concerns must be reported and recorded. Investigations will focus on root causes and corrective actions will be implemented to reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Learnings from incidents will be shared as appropriate to strengthen the organisation’s collective safety knowledge and to reinforce a culture of transparency and continuous improvement.
Emergency response, first aid and business continuity arrangements will be maintained and practiced. Emergency plans identify roles, equipment, evacuation routes and communication expectations. Drills and simulations will be conducted periodically to ensure responses remain effective. The organisation will maintain adequate first aid provision, and designated responders will be trained and equipped to manage a range of foreseeable incidents.
Monitoring, measurement and review are essential to the success of this workplace health and safety policy. We will set measurable safety performance indicators, conduct regular audits and inspections, and review procedures following significant changes or incidents. Performance data will inform management review and planning. Continuous improvement will be pursued through corrective action, risk reduction projects and the promotion of safe behaviour.
Implementation of this safety policy requires visible leadership, meaningful consultation and active participation. Management will allocate necessary resources and ensure that responsibilities are clear and supported. Employees are encouraged to contribute to the development of safe systems and to suggest improvements. A culture of mutual respect and accountability is promoted, with an emphasis on prevention rather than punishment.
Confidentiality for incident reporting and sensitivity to affected individuals will be maintained. Where medical or welfare issues arise, appropriate support will be provided in a manner that respects privacy and dignity. Records relating to safety performance, training and incidents will be retained according to operational practices, supporting transparency and future learning without exposing personal details unnecessarily.
Periodic review of this policy will ensure it remains relevant and effective. The policy will be updated as necessary to reflect changes in operations, technology and emerging good practice. This health and safety policy statement represents a commitment to maintaining a healthy, safe and productive environment and to embedding safety as a core organisational value. All personnel are expected to support and act in accordance with this policy.
